A story of humility and divine intervention, my autobiography--One and Done: How My Life Started When My Football Career Ended--tells my story and the story of so many other big-time college football and basketball players who get cast aside when their university is done with them.
More than 10 years in the making, this book lets people follow my journey from the south side of Youngstown, to Columbus and Ohio State, and then to the Toledo Ohio Correctional Institute where I started my journey of redemption.
Lifted out of a deadly inner-city environment because of our athletic talent, so many college athletes only see their future in athletics and don't develop knowledge and skills to help them reach their potential. But in prison, I took courses like Responsible Adult Culture, read books on Entrepreneurship, and prepared myself to succeed.
My greatest source of enjoyment now is encouraging others and helping them find a roadmap to success. I have started social service agencies in my hometown of Youngstown and Columbus and travel all over the country talking to and working with people of all ages. I just love encouraging people and trying to inspire them.
But my biggest goal is to create a facility where people like me, at my lowest point of depression, substance abuse, and criminality, could have gone to get well. Prison is the place where life slowed down and I became a man, but nobody should have to go to prison to gain knowledge of self and develop into a responsible adult. With your support, my goal is to create a place people can go to get well.
Please join me and help make a difference in the lives of so many people with such great potential. A lot of people, including me sometimes, thought my life might be over when my football career ended and I went to prison, but it was really just beginning. #Oneanddonebook
